Curating vintage and pre-loved collections created by two young women in Amsterdam. The idea behind it is to provide a selection of modern curated clothing while keeping responsibility in mind. Born from a "serendipity" moment, it is now rebranded "Ensō", referring to the Zen-circle which symbolizes creativity, enlightenment, and elegance

The brand hand-picks vintage pieces among thousands (yes, 1000+) garments: only a few will get the "wohoo!" feeling and come back home with the founders. 
Every item will then be carefully reviewed, cleaned, and repaired if needed

Liseth started Serendipity from a desire to wear modern curated clothing without harming people or the planet. After traveling around the world, the urge for a drastic change was stronger than ever.
Andrea, who has inherited her passion for vintage from her grandma and upcycling her mother's wardrobe, was eager to spread that "feeling of uniqueness" in a fresh way.
To make vintage accessible to everybody while building a better lifestyle was just the perfect serendipity moment that ended up in the birth of Ensō

Each of Ensō's products is curated and retouched (if needed) in their studio in Amsterdam

Liseth and Andrea started Ensō from a desire to wear modern curated women by giving clothing a new life. Both coming from a fashion industry background, they decided to stay involved while feeling proud of the products they bring to other women, joining forces with others to pursue the same goal

A portion of Ensō's selection undergoes some kind of upcycling process before becoming a "new" unique piece of clothing

Pre-owned items are articles of clothing that have been retired from someone else closet. 

Pre-owned items already exist, so they require no additional resources and energy to create, contributing zero additional carbon emissions, pollution, and other environmental damages. Additionally, Pre-owned garments are being saved from being thrown away. Around €150 million worth of textile waste goes to landfill and waste each year. Buying pre-owned garments gives clothing second lives, building circularity in the fashion industry, and shortening the demand for new garments.

Mashu is part of the PETA-approved vegan brand of accessories, as can be verified on PETA's website database

Mashu does a great deal to make sure they support environmental protection with their operations. By partnering with 1% for the planet, they plant trees with every purchase, but also only select lower impact alternative materials made with organic byproducts, as well as measuring their CO2 emissions related to manufacturing

Mashu's supply chain is entirely based in Europe as it's been proven by showcased invoices

Every product shipped by Mashu comes in a low-impact eco-packaging made with mostly recycled materials and no plastics

Mashu is a small brand conducting operations according to its own internal self-declared Code of Conduct to make sure the partners they work with follow ethical standards of working conditions. Their suppliers are specifically requested to sign that document in order to proceed to work together

Mashu was founded by Ioanna, its sole owner, a woman from Greece, who provided us with the corporate registration document of her company. As a receiver of her yearly environmental donation, she selected eXXpedition, a not-for-profit organization that runs pioneering all-women sailing research expeditions at sea and virtual voyages on land to investigate the causes of and solutions to ocean plastic pollution

Mashu strives in multiple ways to make sure their customers take good care of their evergreen purchases. Penelope is our XL, do-it-all tote bag. Featuring our signature wavy cut and framed by our structured, square handles, she will stand out in the crowd for all the right reasons. Made from re-purposed wood, our handles are handmade by expert wood artisans using Greek Oak from furniture factory offcuts that would otherwise be burned. Penelope comes with a removable zipped pouch to keep your belongings safe, and features a magnetic closure for extra security. Her luxuriously lined interior is made with our vegan suede crafted from recycled plastic bottles.

Desserto® is a plant based material created as an alternative to leather made from cactus. The aim is to offer cruelty free, sustainable alternatives, without any toxic chemicals and PVC. 

Desserto®’s cactuses are grown in an organic farming system (USDA certified) in the fertile and mineral-rich region of Zacatecas, Mexico. Cactus can absorb a great amount of CO2 which is why it’s called a carbon sink plant. It also doesn’t require much water or resources to create, as it is a desert plant, made to survive in severely degraded soils.

Hemp comes from the Cannabis sativa plant, yes the same plant you are thinking of. Cannabis plants require low water and resources, and have been used to make clothing textiles for centuries. 

Hemp is a high-yielding crop, meaning it produces lots of product on a small amount of land. It doesn’t require any chemical pesticides, so it doesn't harm its environment. In fact, it actually helps replenish soil nutrients, regenerating soil, and removing it of toxins.
On top of that, hemp essentially absorbs more CO2 from the atmosphere than forests, which is why industrial hemp farms are what's called a “carbon sink”. 

Hemp has various natural advantages such as keeping you warm in winter, cool in summer and even protecting you from UV rays. Additionally, it's resistant to harmful microbes, mold, and mildew, which means hemp garments won’t smell bad, even after multiple days of wear. On top of that, it's extremely durable, so it can last for ages in your closet.

Hemp constitutes a highly sustainable, low-impact crop that can be converted into fabric sustainably and has various natural advantages such as keeping you warm in winter, cool in summer and even protecting you from UV rays. 

Vegan leather does not make use of animal sources for any of their materials required to produce their fabric. 

Vegan leather saves CO2 emissions, energy, and resources because it uses plant or chemical based materials. It also ensures no animals are harmed in the process of production.

Vegan leather options vary, as there are increasingly more sustainable leather alternatives entering the market. Some are based on natural materials such as fruit, that are completely biodegradable. Others are made of synthetic materials that are often recyclable and/or made of recyclable materials.

Vegan leather does not make use of animal sources for materials. Vegan leather option vary from biodegradable or infinitely recyclable alternatives.

Recycled polyester also known as rPET, is created by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fiber. This fabric can be made from either post-industrial or post-consumer materials. For example, 5 water bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large T-shirt. This material repurposes existing plastic that would otherwise end up in the landfill or the ocean. 

Recycled polyester’s sustainable production requires low resources and energy to produce, and contributes low CO2 emissions. It also reduces the need to extract crude oil and natural gas from the ground to make more plastic, which is much better for the Earth.

Recycled polyester has not much difference from virgin polyester. It exhibits high strength, durability, versatility, and performance, lasting long in your closet, and surviving expected wear and tear easily.

Garments from recycled polyester aim to be continuously recycled without degradation of quality, allowing for circularity.

A synthetic material. However, instead of utilizing new materials to craft the fabric (i.e. petroleum), recycled polyester makes use of existing plastic.

You may return or exchange items within 15 days of receipt for an exchange or refund. The item must be returned in perfect condition unused and in original packaging. Any returns damaged or returned without original packaging may not be accepted and can be sent back to the customer. Mashu offers free returns on all items within the UK. Returns outside the UK is the responsibility of our customers.
