New Order of Fashion (NOoF) is sourced, designed, and produced entirely in the Netherlands

The brand is a small business built by a small team of <10 people. NOoF, in collaboration with the local Eindhoven community, industry partners Wolkat and design talent Alicia Minnaard, Bart Hess and Marie Sloth Rousing, have developed their first capsule collection

In the summer of 2020, New Order of Fashion (NOoF) started an ambitious local recycling and upcycle project called ‘From Scratch’. With the city of Eindhoven as its source, they collected more than 1,500 kg of discarded clothing. The donated items were the starting point of an ongoing research process in collaboration with designer and NOoF talent Alicia Minnaard. Designer Bart Hess and NOoFs industry partner Wolkat transformed the collected items into a new useful material for fashion makers: recycled yarns and 6 kilometers of textile. With these materials, the brand released its first collection, creating handcrafted upcycled bags, contributing to circular fashion

The 'From Scratch' bag was created entirely from recycled post-consumer textiles locally sourced by New Order of Fashion in Eindhoven. A super sturdy material, wide opening, and interior pocket it's the perfect market, beach, grocery, overnight and more bag.
The pattern of the bag was designed to ensure the least amount of material is wasted during production. 
Each bag is made in the New Order of Fashion makers studio in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
FROM SCRATCH PROJECT
Developed by New Order of Fashion and in collaboration with various designers, the 'From Scratch' collection is part of an ongoing upclycling research project in collaboration with designer Alicia Minnaard.
The process started with New Order of Fashion collecting more than 1,500 kg of discarded clothing from the people of Eindhoven. 
Once collected, designer Bart Hess and recycle partner Wolkat transformed the used clothes into new useful materials - recycled yarns and 6 kilometers of textile. With these materials, New Order of Fashion talent Marie Sloth Rousing created a brand new capsule collection launching first at PARO STORE with this nifty bag.

Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value. 

Upcycling artists are inspired by the textile waste they see, which is almost an unlimited resource at this point. They create with the intention to use what is already here. This process is important in the circular fashion movement, because it makes use of discarded textiles, giving these materials second lives. 

Because discarded textiles are not typically sheets of fabric, but rather articles of discarded clothing, a lot of creativity is required to transform materials into new fashionable pieces. This challenge is exciting for upcycling artists, as they are driven and inspired to create with what is in front of them and often don’t have much to lose in the process, since discarded materials are readily available and cheap. Because of this, upcycled clothing is often unique as each piece has been thoughtfully crafted into a new garment.

This product is made by creatively upcycling materials that would otherwise go to waste. This makes better use of resources like deadstock fabrics: leftovers from big production that are saved by re-using them.
