Recycled polyester also known as rPET, is created by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fiber. This fabric can be made from either post-industrial or post-consumer materials. For example, 5 water bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large T-shirt. This material repurposes existing plastic that would otherwise end up in the landfill or the ocean. 

Recycled polyester’s sustainable production requires low resources and energy to produce, and contributes low CO2 emissions. It also reduces the need to extract crude oil and natural gas from the ground to make more plastic, which is much better for the Earth.

Recycled polyester has not much difference from virgin polyester. It exhibits high strength, durability, versatility, and performance, lasting long in your closet, and surviving expected wear and tear easily.

Garments from recycled polyester aim to be continuously recycled without degradation of quality, allowing for circularity.

A synthetic material. However, instead of utilizing new materials to craft the fabric (i.e. petroleum), recycled polyester makes use of existing plastic.

Recycled nylon is mostly made from post-industrial fabric waste, although it also comes from post-consumer materials such as nylon carpets, tights, and industrial fishing nets.

Recycled nylon offers a great solution to save plastic material from the oceans. It gives nylon waste a second life, contributes to the circular fashion movement, and saves water, energy, and fossil fuel in its process. 

Recycled Nylon is high quality and extremely durable, so nylon is often used for technical, high-performance products. Because of this, recycled nylon can be trusted to last a long time in your closet.

Recycled nylon is endlessly recyclable, so it can be made into a new recycled nylon product when it has retired from use.

A large part of the recycled nylon produced comes from old fishing nets. This is a great solution to save material from the oceans. It also comes from nylon carpets, tights and other products. Recycling nylon is still more expensive than new nylon, but it has many environmental advantages.

For example, imagine a factory that cuts patterns for clothing out of big sheets of fabric and has all the in-between pieces to discard. The scraps of such cut and sew facilities are post-industrial cotton “waste” that have the capacity to be recycled. Post consumer waste is material discarded after someone uses it. 

Recycled cotton’s production process saves resources and energy to create, because their raw material already exists! It gives discarded cotton a purpose, keeping material in the loop for longer, contributing to circular fashion.

Recycled cotton comes from the soft and fluffy part of the cotton plant. It is a lightweight material that is durable, making it a wardrobe staple, and can last in your closet for years to come.

Recycled cotton can be recycled again and again, creating a new recycled cotton clothing. It is also a bio-based material, making it biodegradable, so it can fully decompose when it has grown too old to be recycled again.

Additionally, organic cotton farmers do not have to expose themselves to harmful chemicals, prioritizing workers' health, the health of the people in their communities, and the natural ecosystems they operate in. 

Organic cotton is a bio-based material, making it biodegradable, fully composting after it has retired from use.

Organic cotton is a sustainable solution as it is grown without the use of pesticides, from seeds which have not been genetically modified, unlike regular cotton. It is also more sustainable for cotton farmers, protects their land and is more respectful for people.

Each piece is entirely unique, featuring accents of our iconic 1950s Silk Maps, using off-cuts from our RÆMADE production line. These rare artefacts, originally used by the Royal Air Force in WW2 and during the Cold War period of the 1950s, helped individuals find a route out of enemy territory.⁠

Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value. 

Upcycling artists are inspired by the textile waste they see, which is almost an unlimited resource at this point. They create with the intention to use what is already here. This process is important in the circular fashion movement, because it makes use of discarded textiles, giving these materials second lives. 

Because discarded textiles are not typically sheets of fabric, but rather articles of discarded clothing, a lot of creativity is required to transform materials into new fashionable pieces. This challenge is exciting for upcycling artists, as they are driven and inspired to create with what is in front of them and often don’t have much to lose in the process, since discarded materials are readily available and cheap. Because of this, upcycled clothing is often unique as each piece has been thoughtfully crafted into a new garment.

This product is made by creatively upcycling materials that would otherwise go to waste. This makes better use of resources like deadstock fabrics: leftovers from big production that are saved by re-using them.

Re:Down® is made from 100% recycled down and feathers, sourced mainly from textile waste collectors. Recycling down materials has been used for ages to keep people warm without producing new feathers. 

Re:Down® uses a process based on ancient practices, but incorporates advanced modern technologies, generating a top quality material. Their production factory is certified by the Global Recycled Standard to use environmentally friendly recycling methods and keep their social impact in mind. Firstly, the water they use to wash the discarded down, goes through their water recycling system and is sent back to earth as clean as drinking water. They also are chemical-free and use solar panels to generate some of their electricity.

Re:Down® uses discarded materials, giving second lives to down feathers. This contributes to circular fashion because it keeps material in the life cycle loop for longer. 

Re:Down® is biodegradable because feathers are natural animal material. Not only that, but decomposing feathers can be used as a fertilizer, as they are extremely rich in organic nitrogen.

The RÆBURN Men's Standard Issue Tech Short is manufactured in China and produced in 100% certified RÆCYCLED polyester ripstop made from RÆCYCLED PET plastic bottles. This shell fabric is thin, lightweight and shower resistant through PFC free DWR coating. The inclusion of raised squares in the fabrics weave helps to prevent it from ripping making it highly functional and great for outdoor use. All Standard Issue product feature the RÆBURN parachute emblem, a mark of responsible design and quality.
